The conference takes place on Monday 11 October 2010
This will be the third conference held to bring the Learning & Development community within the broadcast industry together to continue to debate key issues, learn new skills and share experiences from the past year.
The Learning & Development in Broadcasting Conference ‘10 will take place on Monday 11 October 2010 at BAFTA organised by BETR.
This year BETR and its advisory panel are focusing on “Engaging with the Future”. To build on the successes of the two earlier conferences they have recognized the greater need for themes with practical elements - reflecting on the changing nature of the L&D landscape and focusing on innovation and creativity.
We are delighted that TV and radio presenter Maggie Philbin has agreed to Chair the conference again this year. The conference will run with plenary sessions in the Princess Anne Theatre with breakout workshops and smaller group projects around BAFTA. Peter Block, Executive Director, BETR and consultant Nigel Paine are the Co-Directors of the conference.
Maggie Philbin has worked in radio and television for 30 years on a wide range of science, medical and technology programmes. Currently providing analysis and comment on technology for BBC Breakfast News and a regular reporter on BBC 1's Inside Out, she has a unique resonance with audiences, having grown up with them on much loved shows like Swap Shop and Tomorrow's World.
Maggie's extensive radio and television career has included working with ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. In 2007 she and the BBC Radio Berkshire news team beat the Today Programme at the Sony Awards for the quality of their news coverage. She is keen to help improve the visibility of successful scientists and engineers, both to encourage young people and women to pursue careers and reach top positions in these areas. In November 2008, she pioneered TeenTech, a lively interactive one day event which brought 400 young teenagers, scientists and technology companies together.
